This fall, deliver always-on power with the new wired Nest Doorbell. It’s designed to replace a wired doorbell and requires a transformer, so customers may need your help for a worry-free installation. And you can offer even more with the exclusive three-year warranty, only available with professional installation.
Peace of mind with a 24/7 live view.
The wired Nest Doorbell is always on, so your customers can check in from anywhere, at any time to see what’s happening at their front door. And since there’s no need to recharge batteries, they don’t need to worry about running out of charge and missing important activities when they’re out of town.
Built-in alerts and more video history.
Like the battery-powered Nest Doorbell, the new wired Nest Doorbell can recognize a person, package, animal, or vehicle and send customers alerts about the things that matter most to them – no subscription required.1 With 3 hours of free event video history in the Google Home app, it’s easy for people to go back and see what they missed. And if the Wi-Fi goes out, the wired Nest Doorbell automatically records events for up to 1 hour.2
Installation and compatibility.
The wired Nest Doorbell requires a 16-24VAC, 10-40VA rated transformer and chime (both sold separately).3 You may need to replace existing hardware. We recommended keeping a compatible transformer on your truck for simple installation.
For houses that don’t have existing doorbell wires or the right transformer, you can install the wired Nest Doorbell with the Indoor Power Adapter, or suggest the battery-powered Nest Doorbell.
Which doorbell should I recommend?
The battery-powered and wired Nest doorbells both come with many of the same great features – like built-in intelligent alerts, HDR and night vision, talk and listen capabilities, and simple setup and control in the Google Home app. But there are some differences to keep in mind when you’re deciding which one to recommend to customers.
With a Nest Aware Plus subscription (sold separately), the wired Nest Doorbell can record what’s happening at the door around the clock for up to 10 days.1 The battery-powered doorbell can be wired for continuous power, but 24/7 video recording is not available, even when it’s wired.
Li-ion batteries can’t be charged at temps below 32°F without risking permanent damage to the battery. Since the wired Nest Doorbell is powered by doorbell wiring, not batteries, it’s a better fit for homes in areas where the temps are likely to drop below 32°F.
Because it has a built-in rechargeable battery, the Nest Doorbell (battery) is easy to install almost anywhere – no wiring required – so it might be a better fit for apartment buildings or homes without existing doorbell wires. It also offers local storage fallback for up to an hour if the Wi-Fi or power goes out.
Everything works together.
No matter which doorbell you and your customers choose, they’re both packed with helpful features and can be controlled in the Google Home app. They both work with compatible Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa devices, so your customers can stream their live video feed or see and talk to people at their door, or use compatible speakers and displays as a doorbell chime. And they’re made to work with other Nest devices, like Nest Cams and the Nest x Yale Lock, to help customers keep an eye on their homes from anywhere.
